Welcome to the Euchre Club of Chicago weekly newsletter
-- a collection of event informtion, club news, gossip,
advice, and things that amuse us from the Internets. And
there's absolutely no truth to the rumor that this
newsletter contains unsafe quantities of lead from China.
If you have ideas, gossip to divulge, humorous thoughts,
abject praise, rampant criticism, ideas to improve the club,
or you're just kinda lonely and want to talk, send a note to
euchrechicago@yahoo.com.

Your right hand can make the club money! |
 |
By now we hope you've checked out the new Euchre
Club of Chicago website at
euchrechicago.org. Not only will you find a lot
of information on upcoming club activities, news,
averages and photos, but there's also a growing
business directory of goods and services offered by
your fellow ECC members (if you have a good or, um,
service you'd like to include in the
directory, send your information to
euchrechicago@yahoo.com.
You'll also notice at the bottom right corner of the
page some Google ads, offering you a
constantly-changing variety of items of interest to
our club. While we can't offiically tell you to
click the ads, we can tell you that everytime
one of the ads gets clicked, the club makes money.
You do the math.
If you have any suggestions on how to make the
website even better, be sure to let us know!

Overheard at Euchre |

"I'm happy to be your little prick, Dan"
- ECC president Ron Hall making an offer to
member Dan Miracle. It's strange, as our president
has never before been called a little
prick.... Let's just hope they weren't discussing
Halloween costumes.

Ask Hoyle |
 |
Dear Hoyle,
Is it just me, or does Big Chicks hate us?
Service on Wednesday is awful, the manager is often
pretty nasty to us, and even though we bring in, on
average, 40 people a night to the bar, they couldn't
seem to care less about us. Why don't we pick up our
cards and go someplace else? Tired of
Mistreatment
Dear Tom (if that's your real name or an
unfortunate choice of acronym):
Thanks for your feedback, and I know others in the
club feel the same way that you do. But many people
would disagree, and realize that the club has a long
history with Michelle Fire and Big Chicks -- she's
supported the club for a very long time, and we have
supported her in turn. Will everything always go
perfectly? Of course not -- everyone can have an off
night. But the "good" nights will happen far more
frequently, so I would advise you to just brush it
off if you can and focus on your cards. Of course,
if you've been harassed or mistreated in any way by
a member of the Big Chicks staff, bring it up to a
board member right away -- let them handle it and
resolve it. That's why they get paid the big, well,
um, nevermind.
If you have a question about Euchre strategy,
ECC club rules, relationships or just
life in general, send an e-mail to resident
expert Hoyle at
euchrechicago@yahoo.com. We promise all e- mails
are anonymous, and the answers may just

TPAN Annual Gala
|
|
|
|
From ECC member Dr. Gary Bucher: /p>
Hello All,
September is upon us and the Test Positive Aware
Gala will be here before you know it (Saturday,
September 8). It is going to be different this year.
No sit down, stuffy, black-tie event. We are
describing it as "Chic Cocktail" meaning you can
mingle and talk to others while sipping cocktails,
enjoying fabulous food at the buffet, viewing the
art at the Museum of Contemporary Art Warehouse, and
bidding on the silent auction items. We want it to
be a Gala like no other. Your support is needed and
I would love to see you at the event. There are 3
levels of tickets:
Advocate--$300
6:30 p.m. - Midnight
VIP Reception with Exclusive Seafood Buffet &
Complimentary Champagne
Sumptuous Buffet Dinner
Premiere Gift Bags
Complimentary Valet Parking
Gallery Preview
Listing in Program Book
Peer--$200
7 p.m. - Midnight
Sumptuous Buffet Dinner
Gallery Viewing
Buddy--$100
9:30 p.m. - Midnight

Dinner buffets will close promptly at 8:45. Open
bar and dessert buffet open to all ticket levels.
You can go on-line to order your tickets. Bring
friends along. Remember, it is for a great cause.
HIV/AIDS funding keeps dwindling so we need to make
up the losses through events like this so we can
continue to provide the services every has come to
expect. You can purchase your tickets at this link:
tpan.co m/awareaffair/index.shtml. Make sure you
designate me as the ticket captain. I will mail out
formal invitations this week.
Thanks again and Best of Health to all.
