ABOUT EUCHRE
Euchre is a two-, three-, or four- person card game, generally played as four. A shorted deck is used, only the 9's through Aces (24 cards). Each player is dealt 5 cards. The object of the game is to pull at least three out of the five tricks.
At the start of each round, each player is dealt five cards. Another card is turned face up. Each player in turn is given the opportunity either to order up this card to the dealer or to pass. If a player chooses to order it up, the dealer receives it and discards another. This suit becomes trump for this round. The trump suit beats all other suits. If everyone passes, then in turn, every player is given an opportunity to declare trump in a suit other than the card turned up.
The highest trump card is the Jack in that suit. The second-highest trump card is the other Jack in the suit of the same color. Thus, if spades is trump, the Jack of Spades is the highest and the Jack of Clubs is the second highest. The remaining cards are ranked Ace through 9.
