About Us
In 1990 a group of eight Chicagoans who loved the game of Euchre decided to meet up regularly to play. They reached out to others in the community and invited them to join. The gatherings were a huge success, and the group continued to grow. Today, the group still exists as The Euchre Club of Chicago — a social organization for like-minded people who enjoy playing cards and making new friends.
Today our members come from all walks of life, and while most of us are gay or lesbian, everyone is welcome at the Euchre Club of Chicago. A few things have changed since 1990 — attendance on any given night has grown from eight players to as many as 40; playing Euchre twice a month has increased to playing four times a week; and the original membership of eight now hovers around 150. But one thing has never changed — The mission of The Euchre Club of Chicago is and has always been to enrich the lives of its members by providing a friendly and welcoming environment for building friendships through the social interaction of playing Euchre.

The club meets to play euchre four times a week and on an average night 15-30 euchre players attend. Players can sign up with or without a partner. Either way, we always rotate partners after each game, so you’ll never have the same partner for two consecutive games. The player with the highest total score for five games wins a gift certificate from one of our venues. The club also produces four special event tournaments a year. Tournaments are open to active members only and cash prizes are awarded.
We always encourage visitors to check out the club at any time. Players of all skill levels are welcome, but beginners are encouraged to hone their skills by playing online and arriving at least 30 minutes prior to play to practice in person. Members and visitors alike are requested to pay a $4 fee each time they play. After three visits, those who wish to continue playing must become members by paying our $15 annual membership dues. The dues and play fees are collected in order to keep the organization running and to fund our special events.
