For those of you who haven’t attended previous Euchre Spring Breaks, mornings tend to find the group sitting around the pool working as a team to defeat the New York Times crossword puzzle (over a continental breakfast that is included in the room rate!).  The more athletic in the group (and there aren’t that many) might work out in the on-site gym or head out for a jog or vigorous walk along the beach.  If you are a sun worshiper, afternoons are definitely time to head to the beach or just to lay out by the pool.  Not into sunburns?  Then plan an afternoon outing to the Everglades or the local Mall.  Visit the nearby butterfly farm, or even just sit under a palm tree with a good book. Who knows, there might even be a pick-up game of euchre or pinocle during the day.  There really are lots of things to see and do in and around Ft. Lauderdale (www.gayftlauderdale.com).

Evenings include happy hours, and group outings for dinner.  We’ve even been known to visit a few of the local gay establishments for some evening entertainment.  On a couple of nights, the group has decided to just stay at the resort, order in food, and play cards (this also helps keep down the cost of the trip).  We’ve even had some pretty rousing euchre tournaments in the past.  Don’t worry about ‘strip’ euchre.  Those stories have gotten blown way out of proportion over the years.  There isn’t any pressure at any time to ‘bare it all’ at Euchre Spring Break. 

The cost of the trip could approximate (airfare will be the big variable depending on when the ticket is purchased):

It is possible to reduce the cost even further if; (1) you have miles on your favorite airline that you can use to make the trip, or (2) find four people to share a 2-bedroom unit (one bath) for $75 per person (or $300 per person for 4 nights).   

I would like to get a head count of how many people might be interested in attending next March.  Just showing your interest doesn’t commit you to going. I’m just going to need to eventually check with the resort on room availability.  Early March is a popular time of the year in Ft. Lauderdale, so the earlier room reservations can be made, the better.
